Q: What is “MANZCVS”?

A:

Membership to the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists

Membership of the College is an official recognition of a veterinarian’s knowledge and experience in a designated field of veterinary science. To become a member of the College a candidate must have at least three and a half years post-graduate experience as a veterinarian and have successfully completed both written and oral/practical examinations...
— ANZCVS

Q: In what fields has

 Good Boy

 achieved membership?

A:

Dr. Brigitte Roos is a member of the Small Animal Surgery chapter

Dr. Robert Wilkinson is a member of the Anaesthesia & Analgesia chapter

Q: In what fields has Good Boy achieved membership?

Study and training for membership status was undertaken as part of a commitment to quality of care for patients

Rob has also completed a Masters degree in Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia. His final dissertation was on the Anaesthesia of Geriatric Dogs. Few veterinarians in general practice have Rob’s knowledge of anaesthesia

Brigitte & Rob have gained knowledge and skills in these disciplines above that of the average veterinarian, however, they are not specialists. Good Boy maintains relationships with several specialists and will recommend referral as required by your pets condition

If you have concerns about your older pet and anaethesia, be sure to talk to Rob

A safe combination

Surgery and anaesthesia contain a small element of unavoidable risk, but are essential to proper care of our companion animals. The more knowledgeable the staff conducting these procedures, the safer and more comfortable these procedures will inevitably be

These disciplines are complimentary - surgery and anaesthesia go hand in hand when it comes to achieving results. It makes sense to combine these skills under one roof, and to deliver them in a general practice setting where patients of all complexities can benefit

Q: What is “RVN” and “RVT”?

A:

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Registered Veterinary Technician

Under current Australian legislation there is no definition of what a veterinary nurse is. There is no regulation or statutory code of conduct [in QLD] and no requirement to maintain currency and fitness to practise within veterinary nursing. The VNCA has taken the position that unqualified and unregulated veterinary staff potentially expose the public and animal patients to harm ... .

By creating the AVNAT [Australian Veterinary Nurses and Technicians] Registration Scheme, the VNCA has established a thorough and transparent self-regulation program that will set standards of professional practice across the veterinary nursing industry.
— Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA)

At Good Boy, you will find only AVNAT registered RVNs and RVTs involved in your pet’s medical care
